Before working out what a shared charger can earn, you first need to know what it costs to install one. Here are the prices observed in 2026, and how to make them pay off once the charger is in.

Prices by type of installation

• Reinforced socket: between €500 and €1,000 incl. tax, installed. The most economical option, but also the slowest to charge.
• 7.4kW wall charger (the most common in single-family homes): between €1,200 and €2,500 incl. tax, installation included. Expect closer to €1,500 to €2,000 for a standard installation.
• 22kW three-phase charger: between €2,500 and €3,500 incl. tax, for noticeably faster charging.

The final price mostly depends on the complexity of your existing electrical setup (distance to the panel, need to run a new line, dedicated circuit breaker).

Grants available in 2026

The tax credit specific to EV chargers ended on 31 December 2025 and can no longer be claimed. However, a reduced 5.5% VAT rate (instead of 20%) applies if the installation is carried out by a professional in a home completed more than two years ago, covering both equipment and labour. How long does it take to pay off the installation?

Let's take a concrete example: a 7.4kW charger installed for €1,800, shared via ShareNplug outside your own usage hours, at a rate of €2 per hour. With regular use of a few hours a week by drivers in the area, revenue estimates generally fall between €20 and €60 per month for occasional use — more for a well-placed, highly available charger. If your goal is to pay off your installation quickly, favour a 7.4kW charger over a simple reinforced socket: the extra upfront cost (a few hundred euros) is generally offset by faster charging, meaning more possible sessions and more potential income.
